little indian...

Trying to be more intentional on capturing closeup images of the family as we all age together. Pyper had a pre-school thanksgiving program where she had pilgrim and indian costumes. After the program, she still wanted to wear the indian costume so I felt it was a good opportunity to capture this image. This whole program brought back memories of Maci at nearly the same age. It is crazy how Pyper's looks and mannerisms mimic Maci so closely...

rita...

Rita was another one of my volunteers on Thanksgiving day. I am definitely glad that she let me photograph her. What a solemn pose! When I told her to "hold that pose and expression", I know that she didn't realize how long she would have to maintain it. Everyone seem to just sigh after I clicked the shutter and told them I was done. Rita was no exception there...

kendra - closeup...

I shot two images of Kendra. This one was taken as a closeup at an angle and focused on her nearest eye.  I absolutely love the focus falloff that you get with the 8x10 camera at large apertures...

keith and debra...

Taken as the sun was setting on our Thanksgiving gathering at Kathy's house. I am so glad that Keith and Debra let me take this portrait of them...

ping pong...

Every year when we go back to Childress America, a new competition surfaces (last year's competition is here and the year before is here). This year ping pong was the game of choice.  As always, Sawyer and Stratton were ready and willing to pose for an instant shot between games...

sherri, maci and sadi...

It is pictures like this that makes you want to take more instant photos.  Some may say that the photos are washed out, but I would counter that the soft tones just make the picture that much more special.  I took the same picture with a digital camera, but this Polaroid Softtone film (still available in limited quantities at the Impossible website) is incredible to hold.  I keep pulling the pictures out to look at them. What a lucky man I am!  A beautiful wife, two beautiful girls and the moment/day captured on film that I can instantly hold in my hand...

feasting...

Started a little early this year.  We had our thanksgiving lunch at work today.  A few of us got together and cooked the turkeys in my garage this morning.  Wow that turkey was good!
