dorothy...

Dorothy came over today to have a color 8x10 taken. I forgot to pull the negative sleeve and didn't notice until later in the day when I went to process the image. At least I got this Fuji test shot while evaluating the lighting/shadows. Will conquer the color 8x10 on another day...

emulsion lift - sophi...

So many ways to create art...

This was an Impossible PX680 image that I took of Sophi. Knowing that I wanted to do an emulsion lift when I took the picture, I softened the image by taking it through a window on an overcast day in the shade. For some time I have wanted to see what an image would look like when it was transferred onto aluminum sheet. I would have to say that I am not disappointed. I really like the sheen and the smoothness of the final product. Already looking for another image to create...

8x10 Color Test Film - Take One...

Impossible Color Protection 8x10 Test Film...

Only my 2nd photo taken by me with an 8x10 camera... Ever...

THIS is the reason that I bought an 8x10 camera...

More to come...

is this a dream...

Caught this moment with a couple of kids playing in the sandbox at the Caldwell Zoo in Tyler. It was a rare moment when the truck wasn't surround with kids and parents. I couldn't have staged the kids in the cab any better. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time with the camera pointed in the right direction. :)

The photo is definitely over-exposed, but a somewhat surreal image. Some may attempt this through editing, but I was able to capture it exactly like this (unedited) on film. Just another reason why I continue to shoot Impossible film. As I have found time and time again, unexpected results can yield the most interesting images...

sadi's flowers...

So Sadi get flowers delivered to the house last night and she is so excited...

During lunch today, I get out my Polaroid Spectra/closeup filter combo and take a picture of them. I have to tell you that I am absolutely amazed at the outcome! Where did all of these colors come from? I don't think you could get a better rendition of the colors than this! An Impossible Project success...

back to pyper...

With all the polawalks and other things going on, it has been a while since I posted a picture of Pyper. Got home today and Pyper was about to leave. Wanted to try out some PZ680 Color Protection film on her and this is the result. All I can say is WOW! Can't wait to get more opportunities to shoot this film again.

Getting back to Pyper, isn't she so adorable. More than anything, I look forward to many more Impossible shots of her over the years...

the 8x10 camera quadtych...

Found an interesting/fun (and even a little less-costly) use of my 8X10 camera. I taped 4 Polaroid Spectra Soft Tone images in a film holder and shot them all four at one time. Makes for a very exact quadtych. Bought a film changing bag to make this even easier. Now I have a great use for the 12 packs of Soft Tone that I have left...

the curse of yellow...

Captured this today in my backyard after work. What you see is not always what you get. Yellow flowers, especially when they are with dark green, is one of the hardest colors to capture (for me) on any instant film. I used the closeup filter with my SX70 camera on a tripod. The flower that I focused on is the one that is blown out the most. :( I darkened almost two notches and still couldn't get all of the detail, including the rain drops on the petals. Oh well, sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad and just enjoy the fact that you got a pretty neat piece of art...

reflecting on downtown LA...

the golden towers...

My gold-frame version of the Watts Towers in Los Angeles taken on a mini-polawalk with Toby Hancock...

los angeles traffic...

Got the opportunity to go night shooting with Toby Hancock in LA.  He seems to be able to pull any and all lights out of the night and capture them on film. One of my goals was to get a slow-shutter night shot of traffic. Captured this one on expired Polaroid 690 film with my Polaroid 600SE camera on a tripod...

red water...

Took this 45 second long exposure in downtown Los Angeles during the polawalk in Februay 2013...

injured angel...

Came upon this small statue in the East Mount Cemetery in Greenville this past weekend.  I go to this cemetery often to look for items to photograph. As I got closer, I realized that the right arm was and left foot were missing/broken. Really like it when I get to use the last few black frame images on something as unique as this...

the red tree town...

A very simple yet bold image of a tree taken in downtown Los Angeles...

out of the vines...

Ran across this mural on my way to Hermosa Beach in California. Had to turn around and come back, but the image was worth it...

Arriving in California at John Wayne Airport in Orange County for the Februay 2013 LA Polawalk.  Shooting almost directly into the sun...

mosaic - watts towers...

Taken during a polawalk with Toby Hancock at Watts Towers in Los Angeles, CA...

clothing company - 2nd floor...

Large images on the sides of buildings are one of my favorites to photograph. This one was taken during the LA polawalk in Feb 2013...

same building, different perspective (and sky)...

I took a photo of the building from Klyde Warren Park during the February Polawalk last week.  I was at the same part a few weeks earlier with Justin Goode and took this one. In my latest one, the sky was absolutely amazing and I really got lucky with the light leaks at the bottom...

cameron...

Met Cameron at the LA Polawalk in early February. Out of all the people that came, I think it is safe to say that Cameron left that night having taken the most photos. :) The amazing part of polawalks is usually the people that you get to meet. Glad that I didn't let the busyness of the night get in the way of getting a portrait of him...
